Information re: POTENTIAL Inclement Weather Day declaration for Thursday, March 24, 2016
In the event that buses are cancelled:
If buses are cancelled in the morning, they are also cancelled for the afternoon.
For safety reasons, you may choose whether or not to send your child to school; however, if you keep him/her home and your child is NOT bused, you MUST call the school and report the absence. Our Safe Arrival Program dictates that we know where all absent students are – if we cannot reach you, we will contact your emergency contact person. If we cannot reach that person, we are obligated to contact the police.
There may be a modified program in your child’s class due to numbers of students attending and absences of some teachers. If your child does not attend school on a day that buses are cancelled due to inclement weather, your child will not face attendance related repercussions.
Once students arrive, they are expected to stay. You can, however, make arrangements ahead of time to pick up your child at lunch.
When buses are cancelled – there are:
· NO Lunch Service Arrangements or Special Lunches.
· NO Special Events days or field trips.
· Please send a lunch with your child.
Please note:
Dress for the weather – bus cancellation does not mean automatic indoor recesses or early entry into the school.
Information regarding bus cancellations is posted at www.schoolbuscity.com, conveyed to GTA radio/television stations, and available on the Board’s Twitter feed: https://twitter.com/#!/YRDSB.

BLUE WILLOW SPIRIT CLUB THANKS YOU FOR YOUR GENEROSITY!!
Blue Willow Spirit Club held its annual Food Drive just before March Break.
It was a very successful event because of everyone’s strong effort and great generosity. At the end of two short weeks, the Vaughan Food bank picked up six very large bins of non-perishable food items which will serve to support those in need in our very own community. Thank you to our Spirit Club for their leadership, and to our staff, students and their families for their great support.

Muddy Shoes... Oh My!!
The variance in weather is contributing to an increase of muddy areas on our pavement and field. While we consistently remind students to stay away from muddy areas, many students are coming into the office requesting that their parent(s) drop off dry socks and pants.
Please encourage your children to pack extra socks and pants in their backpacks, in case they find themselves in need of a dry change of clothes.

Winter Weather Reminder
WINTER WEATHER REMINDER |
On occasion, School Bus service cancellations may occur due to inclement weather conditions. Parents, students and staff are asked to access local radio and television stations after 6:00 a.m. or www.yrdsb.ca to receive inclement weather information. A bus cancellation message will also be available at www.schoolbuscity.com and 1-877-330-3001, or by following YRDSB on Twitter.
If a School Bus is cancelled for a day, it is cancelled for the entire day. If you choose to drop off your child in the morning on a bus cancellation day, you must also ensure you pick them up at the end of the day during dismissal.
