Paint the Holidays Success!!

Paint the Holidays
School Council Community Outreach Event

We were delighted to see so many families who joined us at our PAINT THE HOLIDAYS event at Blue Willow.

Parents and students were very engaged in painting their winter-themed figurine and designed some very colourful keepsakes!

The pottery will be glazed and returned to school before the holidays! We had a wonderful time building community and creating beautiful art together!

Thank you to our Community Outreach - School Council Team for organizing such a fun family event at Blue Willow!

November NEWS at Blue Willow

School News

Blue Willow continues to be filled with exciting opportunities for learning and growing. During the month of October, many of our classes enjoyed extended learning experiences: from visiting our local library and community centres, to engaging in seasonal changes at the farm!  We are also very happy to announce that the Blue Willow School Community raised over $775 for the Terry Fox Foundation. Thank you to all of our staff, students and parents for their participation and support. Donations continue to be welcomed at:  http://www.terryfox.ca/BlueWillowPSWoodbridge. Congratulations to both Ms. Currie and Mr. Venditti, who have both acquired a contract position in our Board!  We welcome Ms. Chance (Grade 7A) and Mr. Sandhu, who have joined our Blue Willow Family and are committed to supporting student success and well-being.

As the season changes, the weather tends to be unpredictable throughout the school day.  Please ensure that your child(ren) are prepared for outdoor play and activity during recess times with appropriate outdoor wear for the weather.

Parents and guardians are also encouraged to stay informed of Bus Arrival times by checking your child(ren)'s bus status under Late Bus report on www.schoolbuscity.com.

Progress Reports and Parent-Teacher Interview dates are fast approaching. Please note that Progress Reports will be sent home on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 and Parent-Teacher Interviews will take place during the evening of Thursday, November 24, 2016 and the morning of Friday, November 25, 2016.  During your interview times, parents/guardians will have the opportunity to formally engage in conversations regarding your child(ren)’s progress in developing learning skills and academic achievement. As always, individual student conversations should be ongoing and we continue to partner in building student success together.

Community News

Thank you to our School Council members for engaging our families in three fun-filled and high energy DRUMFIT sessions on Thursday, October 13, 2016.
What an enjoyable way to connect with others, relieve stress, and benefit from a great cardiovascular workout!! It truly was an un"beat"able experience!

Next School Council Meeting
Monday, December 5, 2016 in our Library from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Parking Reminders

When parking in school and Board parking lots, please ensure you are parked in an appropriate designated parking space and obeying any parking signage.  Failure to do so may result in a parking ticket. Our schools are busy locations, and the safety of all our students is paramount.

Here are some tips to help you:
  • Arrive early to ensure enough time to find an appropriate parking spot
  • Students must be signed-out at the office, in order to leave the premises
  • If there are no appropriate legal parking spots available, please find appropriate legal parking on nearby streets.
