As we approach the end of another wonderful year of learning and growing at Blue Willow, we would like to extend our warmest thanks to all of our staff, students, parents, guardians, and community partners for their contribution to the success and well-being of all our students.
During our 10 months together, we have continued to focus on supporting the achievement and well-being of all our learners. We recognize the contributions of all our staff, students, support staff, and school volunteers, who made such a positive impact on the success of our community.
A special thank you to our School Council members, who continue to be instrumental in supporting our school goals, and in leading fun, engaging, and inviting community outreach events, such as DrumFit and our students’ End of Year BBQ.
We are so proud of all our students, who work hard in developing and refining skills and strategies that will serve them well in all areas of their lives. Together with our student leaders, we have created an inclusive environment where we encourage positive change and influence through many of our student-led teams such as our Healthy School Team, Eco Team, Sports Teams, and our Student Leadership Team. We have also contributed to our community through fundraising events such as Terry Fox Run, Holiday Gift Donations in collaboration with our Vaughan Fire Dept, and Jump Rope for Heart. Exciting Spirit days and empowering Social Justice days have all contributed to our positive school culture and learning environment.
We truly value the collaboration of all our stakeholders, and we recognize how our success in realizing our goals is reflective of the collective efforts of many.
To our Grade 8 graduates: It has truly been a pleasure to share a smile with you each and every day. As lifelong learners, we believe that every interaction is an opportunity to grow and develop. We know you can achieve anything you set your mind to, and we look forward to your continued growth and success.
We are so proud of all our students and each of the successes we experience together!
Have a fun and safe summer holiday! We look forward to seeing you all back to school on Tuesday, September 5, 2017!
EARLY DISMISSAL ON THURSDAY, JUNE 29, 2017
All schools in the York Region District School Board are committed to improving student achievement and well-being. On Thursday, June 29, 2017, an early release day will take place to allow elementary teachers and support staff to take part in meetings during the afternoon of that day. These meetings will allow for school staff to engage in culminating activities regarding the review and revision of the School’s Improvement Plan as well as year-end and transition activities that support student success.
As has been our practice in the past, students will attend school during the morning of Thursday, June 29, 2017 only. Students will be dismissed early that day at 11:25 a.m. Arrangements will be made to ensure that students who are normally bused to and from school will receive transportation at this time. Parents/guardians whose children attend after school child care should make appropriate arrangements to address this change in schedule.
JUMP ROPE FOR HEART and STROKE
Thank you BLUE WILLOW for your support!! “Making healthy choices for your kids is something you do every day. That’s why programs like Jump Rope for Heart get the thumbs up from parents across Canada. Thanks to parents, Jump Rope for Heart continues to instill life-long healthy habits for kids across Canada. By participating in JUMP, kids also take pride in their fundraising — both individually and as part of a team.” Heart and Stroke Foundation Parents Corner
PLEASE CLAIM YOUR LOST AND FOUND ITEMS!
We encourage students, parents and guardians to claim all lost items from the Lost and Found bin. Please note that any unclaimed items will be donated by July 5, 2017. If you have any questions or concerns, please call the office at (905) 851-0043
YRDSB SURVEY FOR PARENTS/GUARDIANS
Thank you to all parents and guardians who participated in the YRDSB Survey for Parents/Guardians. This survey provides an important opportunity for parent/guardian voice. Results will be used to guide planning to support student achievement and well-being. We value your input and any information you provide will be anonymous, considered confidential and kept in strict accordance with all relevant legislation.
YORK REGION POLICE COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP
THANK YOU to our York Region Police Community Partner, Officer Toni, who has led various workshops to support belonging and well-being for all our youth. Her messages fill our hearts with compassion, awareness, and empowerment and help guide us in positive directions. We look forward to introducing our new Grade 6 classes to the Values, Influences and Peers (VIP) Program next year!
