Happy Summer Break!

Blue Willow continues to be a place of excitement and energy, even as we wind down to the last day of this school year!  Report Cards have been sent home today.  Please be sure to sign and return the tear-off portion of the Report Card with your child tomorrow. Remember students will attend school during the morning of Wednesday, June 29th, 2016 only.  Students will be dismissed early tomorrow at 11:15a.m..  Arrangements will be made to ensure that students who are normally bused to and from school will receive transportation at this time.  Parents/guardians whose children attend after school child care should make appropriate arrangements to address this change in schedule.

It is important to let us know if you will be moving out of our area or if your child will be attending a new school in September.  Please ensure that you have shared this information with our Office staff at (905) 851-0043.

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all our staff and students, particularly to our staff who are leaving this year: Ms. Bird, Ms. Foster, Ms. Hunt, Ms. Iaboni, Ms. Kolade, Ms. Limanseputro, Ms. Martin, Ms. Martinez, Ms. Portnoy, and Ms. Wortzman.  We will miss you all and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all your contributions during our time together.

We would like to also extend a warm welcome to our new staff, who will be joining us in the fall: Ms. Avsec, Ms. Bekiaris, Ms. Peter, Ms. Murray, and Ms. Yablon.

It has been our pleasure working with, and serving, the families in our Blue Willow Community.  On behalf of all staff, we would like to wish each of you a safe and happy summer break. We look forward to continuing the important work of supporting student achievement and well-being as we undertake another exciting school year starting on September 6, 2016!

Reminder: Wednesday, June 29th, 2016 Early Dismissal in Elementary Schools

All schools in the York Region District School Board are committed to improving student achievement and well-being.  On Wednesday, June 29th, 2016 an early release day will take place to allow elementary teachers and support staff to take part in meetings during the afternoon of that day.  These meetings will allow for school staff to engage in culminating activities regarding the review and revision of the School’s Improvement Plan as well as year-end and transition activities that support student success.
As has been our practice in the past, students will attend school during the morning of Wednesday, June 29th, 2016 only.  Students will be dismissed early that day at 11:15a.m..  Arrangements will be made to ensure that students who are normally bused to and from school will receive transportation at this time.  Parents/guardians whose children attend after school child care should make appropriate arrangements to address this change in schedule.

Thank YOU!

This message marks another wonderful year of learning and growing at Blue Willow Public School. Over our 10 months together, we have continuously focused on supporting the achievement and well-being of all our learners. We recognize the contributions of all our staff, students, support staff, and school volunteers, who made such a positive impact on the success of our school. Our School Council have also been instrumental in supporting our school goals, and in leading fun, engaging, and inviting community outreach events, such as the High Five Wellness Series.  We truly value the collaboration of all our stakeholders, and we recognize how our success in realizing our goals is reflective of the collective efforts of many.

To our Grade 8 graduates: It has truly been a pleasure to share a smile with you each and every day.  As lifelong learners, we believe that every interaction is an opportunity to grow and develop.  We know you can achieve anything you set your mind to, and we look forward to your continued growth and success.  Remember the roar Blue Willow Graduates, and know that we will always cheer you on!

Thank you to every member of our Blue Willow community who continue to keep our students at the heart of all we do.

Have a safe and enjoyable summer break!!

See you September 6, 2016!!

Sincerely,

Mr. Fisher, Principal and Ms. Lucas, Vice-Principal

FUEL FOR KIDS SUCCESS!!

It was lovely to see so many members of our extended Blue Willow family having fun and supporting the Fortinos FUEL for KIDS fundraiser

Thank you to all of our staff, students, families and friends, who supported this event.  The barbeque was a huge success!  We also enjoyed the opportunity to watch our students lead various fundraising stations (i.e, bake sale, lemonade stand, face-painting, henna (mehndi), and nail polish stand).

Together, we raised $1393.40 to support arts and technology in our school!

ARTS and INNOVATION NIGHT at BLUE WILLOW

It was so nice to see so many smiling faces yesterday at our Blue Willow Arts and Innovation Night.  A special thank you goes out to all of our organizers, teachers, and families, who continue to support student achievement through engagement and creativity.

Families and friends were very excited to walk through our halls and discover the featured designs and prototypes that our students so diligently produced.  We are so proud of all our students and the hard work that they invested in to create their innovative projects.

What a wonderful example of learning and growing at Blue Willow!
